Daal Makhani
Ingredients
1.Whole Urad daal - 1/2 Cup soaked for 6-8 hours
2. Chana daal - 1/4 Cup soaked for 6-8 hours
3. Raajma - 1/8 Cup soaked for 6-8 hours
4. Onions - 2 medium size- Chopped
5. Tomato puree of 2 nos. Of Big sized tomatoes
6. Few green chillies and ginger sliced
7. Oil-2 tbsp
8. Butter - 25 gm
9. Turmeric powder-1tsp
10. Salt to taste
11. Red chilli powder-1 tsp
12. Coriander powder-1 tsp
13. Garam masala-1 tsp
14. Kasoori methi
15. Cinnamon stick -2 inch
16. Green Cardamom-2 nos.
17. Fresh Cream-2 tbsp
Method of Preparation
Step 1: Boil the chana daal , Urad daal and rajma in pressure cooker till 4-5 whistle.
Step 2: Turn on the stove and put a kadai on it.
Step 3: Add oil and butter and let it heat up.
Step 4: Lower down the flame to low medium and add cinnamon stick and Green cardamom. Saute them for a while.
Step 5: Now add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell fades.
Step 6: Now add chopped onion and saute till it turns light brown.
Step 7: Add turmeric powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder. And cook for few seconds.
Step 8: Now add tomato puree and put the lid on to the kadai. Cook till it leaves oil from sides.
Step 9: Meanwhile mash the boiled daal and raajma with the help of masher
Step 10: Now , add the mashed daala and rajma to kadai and a glass of water.
Step 11: Cook for 5-7 minutes on low flame with the lid on.
Step 12: After this add fresh cream and mix them well.
Step 13: Add salt , kasoori methi , garam masala and sliced ginger & chillies.
Step 14: Now Cook again for 2-3 minutes with the lid on.
Step 15: After this turn the flame off and add some butter over it.
Daal makhani is ready and ready to serve with garnish of cream and jeera rice
